Shiny New Things (The New Legacy Athletic Body)

Hello everyone …. Today I went and Looked at the new Mesh Body option recently released by Legacy, and I must say what I saw had me feeling a bit discouraged ……. There are still many of our friends and family in this World we call Secondlife who do not yet understand the subtle differences in the body varieties and how it affects their created look. Today I’m going try to help some of our Fellow Brethren and Newcomers to the Grid.

It can be a daunting task trying to decide what body to use in this Mesh world of ours, but I am gonna try to help you with that by addressing one of the newest releases…. The Legacy Mesh body and its Athletic Counterpart.

First off …. Let’s dispel the myth that the Athletic Body is an “upgrade” to the Legacy Body we all know. The Athletic Body is simply a new Option offered to us by the TheMeshbody company (creators of the Legacy Mesh body)

First Let us look at what gives us our individuality here in SecondLife …. We all use the same Bodies and know it can be a pain sometimes to get the look you desire …. But getting there is half the fun. To Further enhance our look, we have tools at our disposal, Shapes, Skins, Mesh Heads, and clothing. The Shape is the main part of getting the look you desire, and one shape can be used on a multitude of Mesh bodies but will always look different depending on what body you use. Without changing anything I will show you the difference in the two male options of the Legacy bodies, keeping the same shape on both.

At First Glance there is not much difference to be seen. You May notice a slight Definition increase in my arms and my Chest, but to really see the difference I am gonna wear both Bodies and show you where the differences will be noticed.

As you see there is a slight difference I the arms and the chest (Light areas is the Legacy athletic Body) …. But also, an increase in the definition of the back and legs. Keep in mind that the illusion of definition also comes from the skin you choose to wear on your avatar, so take your time and choose carefully. "The Skin I wear comes from Stray Dog, and the tattoo i wear i created myself (yes i do Custom tattoos as well)" they make great skins for men in a variety of Looks and shades.

As for my Shape I Created it myself and would be happy to create one for you as well. You can also create your own shape, by making sure that the shape you purchase is modifiable. Go into your appearance and click Edit shape and Play with the sliders to see what effect it would have on your body, then once you find something that you are happy with, Save it. Don’t just click “save” though, click on “save as” and create a new name for your created custom shape, this way you don’t loose the original and can always revert back if you feel the need to.
